Ukrainian Easter Egg Event

April 3, 2022 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

April 3rd, 11:30—1:30 p.m. show your solidarity with our Ukrainian neighbors by learning how to
make Ukrainian Eggs. This is a fun and satisfying project. Go online to familiarize yourself with the
process. There are a couple of great YouTube sites that are helpful, as well as directions. There are
many different easy to draw items that symbolize Christ’s resurrection and unique forms of the cross
that can be used in your design. The process involves using beeswax to draw your image on the egg,
then dipping eggs in assorted dyes that are very vibrant. It’s not a good project for younger kids, but a
11—12 year old would probably enjoy it. Bring a friend if you like.
Items to bring:
Lunch or snack
A couple of raw eggs (extra in case one breaks).
A couple of small terry cloth rags, to cradle your egg in.
A pencil to draw design (don’t use an eraser on the egg).
A smaller candle to use to heat up the kistky (copper writing tool).
